Many of us choose to give to charitable organizations and non-profits throughout the year, which often results in deductions on our taxes. We want to make sure we stay organized and document our contributions so that we’re ready when tax time comes around.

Though we’ll still want to keep our original receipts and documentation from our charitable contributions (we recommend a folder or zipper pouch in your Budget Binder!), this free printable charitable contributions sheet can help us see how much we’ve given at a glance.

Track Your Charitable Contributions

Every time we make a gift to a qualifying organization throughout the year, we’ll want to take the time to fill in the various columns on the charitable contributions printable.

There’s space to write the date of the contribution and the name of the recipient. We can note our donation type, whether we’ve donated money or goods or have expenses related to volunteering. (Learn what volunteering expenses meet the requirements in this post.)

There’s also space to write down the amount of our contribution and the payment method we used to give, whether that’s a check, credit card, electronic payment, etc.

By the end of the year, we’ll be able to easily calculate how much we’ve given to charity, which can be very helpful information to have at tax time.

Why is charitable giving so important?

Sure, there are potential tax benefits. But what really makes charitable giving so important is the opportunity to make an impact. Big or small, our gift can help the most vulnerable people and communities in our society, improving lives and providing chances for people who may not have them otherwise.

Giving also feels good. It’s a selfless act and a reminder that though we can’t solve all the world’s problems, we can start by doing for one what we wish we could do for all. If we all give of our resources to “do for one,” that can really add up and make a huge positive impact on the world.
